Learn to Fly
After smacking into my own mortality this year and then hearing the news that I was going to be a grandmother for the first time, I felt as if I needed to put something in writing just in case. We don't know yet if she's having a boy or a girl because, my daughter said, "there just aren't enough happy surprises in life." And this from a child who snooped every Christmas and birthday. She's all grown up now. I think she's ready to be a mom. If any of us are ever really "ready." Smile for every picture Read every day Catch frogs, pet kittens And tell all your secrets to your dog Dance in the rain, sing in the shower And look for rainbows Hold hands Hug your friends, kiss your family And say I love you Wear your heart on your sleeve And mismatched socks on your feet Splash through puddles, jump in the leaves And, whatever you do, don’t eat yellow snow Say please & thank you & I'm sorry Laugh too much and never be afraid to cry Share your ice cream and eat your vegetables Tell stories, build forts and color outside the lines Have sweet dreams, believe in angels And learn to fly Love, GG If you'd like to use this in your own artwork or to give to your own child or grandchild, please just let me know that you've shared it. Otherwise, of course, all copyright laws are applicable. Thank you.
